Sad Goose Investigative Series: Gender

9/19/2021

by Luke Hauge
Even Joe Biden knows there are at least three genders, but only Sad Goose Cooperative is brave enough to reveal what they actually are. These genders were exhaustively researched and compiled by Luke.

Read the gender chart like this: choose which gender you feel most akin to. The blue arrow points toward a gender to which you aspire. The red arrow points toward a gender you repress. For example, someone with a Cowboy gender aspires to be a Local Milk Person and represses their Cat Ears inclinations.

On our fourth day of Halloweek, the Sad Goose editorial team collaborated with Emissary of Spook: Lore Andreassen (other titles on request) to present our definitive, peer-reviewed list of the most haunted common dairy products. You wouldn’t believe what we went through to create this list, but it’s 100% the case that we made Clair put their whole hand in every single dairy product mentioned on this list. Check entry #3 if you’re curious about why Clair’s right hand is just bones now.

We’ve compiled our findings below!

HALLOWEEK 2020: Six Playlists For Six Halloween Moods

10/26/2020

by Clair Willden and Luke Hauge
It's day two of Halloweek, and we, the Sad Goose editorial team, are excited to bring you a collection of six short-and-sweet (with one notable exception, which is sweet but not at all short) playlists we've whipped up for just this occasion. Why six? Well, American tradition has long accepted that there are only six moods a person might have on Halloween, from the typical and well-loved feeling that there's someone just out of your field of vision but you're certain that they're watching you to the widely-censured but time-honored certainty that we've all gotta snap sometimes.

This means that the next time you're walking alone through a graveyard, tossing and turning in bed as the ghost of a former lover wordlessly observes you from across the room, or just casually sharpening a knife in your shed while muttering to yourself, queue up one of these playlists and celebrate Halloween in style!

Mood: You're being haunted by a ghost, but the ghost is history, capitalism, and/or your own sins.
Mood: You don't remember writing the story that populates the neatly stacked pages on your desk. In your Remington typewriter, a blank page is ready to receive more text.
Mood: Outside your window, the wind howls. The streetlight has been out for months and it's a new moon. This is what we mean when we talk about darkness.
Mood: Calmly, you back away from the body before you, with its familiar and unfamiliar face. The blood that pools around its head is thick and still-warm. But you turn away from it: there's no way you're actually dead.
Mood: You've always been prone to late-night walks. The cool air on your face, the quiet stillness of a calm autumn evening. Tonight, though, something is different. The breeze that whistles through the trees makes the leaves rattle like a dying breath and though you don't see anyone, you can feel their eyes upon you.
Mood: Before you appears a knife, real or imagined. You've been wronged for the last time. It's Fortunato's turn to be walled in; hell is empty and all the devils are inside your vengeful heart.

Edgar Sluice's Horrid Quest, A Downloadable One-Page RPG

9/23/2020

by Clair Willden and Luke Hauge
Edgar Sluice owes you 100 gold pieces. He feels so bad about it (really!) that he told you he was going to go directly to his stash in the sewers and get it for you--yesterday. Well, he's not back yet and, as a matter of fact, no one's seen him since yesterday morning. Time to go track Edgar down.

Edgar Sluice's Horrid Quest is a one-page rpg for D&D 5th Edition where 3-5 players will risk everything by falling into a sewer, arguing with an enchanted rat, and fighting a deeply unpleasant ghost in a grand journey to gain one hundred gold pieces and--perhaps--earn the friendship of a tunnel-dwelling scammer whose fashion sense hasn't advanced an inch since the 1310s.
